An area that is often not discussed in grad school is evaluations and treatment for dementia. For SLP’s that work in Skilled Nursing or Assistive Living Centers working with dementia it is a big part of what we do.
Treating dementia is different than treating out skilled patients. We are not working with them to rehabilitate we are treating to help them maintain current function or improve current function for daily living!
